1. What is AWE XP? AWE is a server plugin for Counter-Strike: Source that modifies game play. It's similar in nature to the Warcraft3 and Superhero mods for Counter-Strike. Players gain experience for actions like setting the bomb or rescuing hostages. As a player gains more experience, they gain new abilities or improvements to current abilities.
2. What does AWE stand for? The base player classes: air, water, and earth.
3. What player classes are available and what are their abilities? See the Info for Players for a list of classes and abilities.
4. Does AWE have a 'shopmenu' like the warcraft3 mod? AWE XP has a store available through the main menu which includes things like health packs and adrenaline. Additional items are still being added.
5. Where can I download AWP XP? You can't. AWE is currently in beta stage and has not been released. You can play the beta and post any bugs, comments, or suggestions on our forums. (The test server address and status can be found on the home page.)
5. How is the XP saved? MySQL? At this time the XP data is saved in a custom binary file for performance reasons. Designing the file load/save methods around the actual data required makes the files smaller, memory use less, and most of all reduces the amount of time these methods consume.
